The WCPS Middle School Athletic Handbook has been updated, and all eligible 6th-grade students are now permitted to try out for all middle school sports teams for the 2026–2027 school year.
Additional information regarding tryout dates and interest meetings for winter and spring sports will be provided as those seasons approach.

We hope you can join us for a back to school celebration for the K-12 Maroons! The celebration will be this Saturday, August 8th, from 10:00-2:00 at the GWHS track. Each grade level will be recognized with a celebratory lap around the track. There will be free food, games, and school supply give-aways. We hope we see you there!
SMMS Back to School night will be on tomorrow, August 6th, from 1:00-3:00 and 4:30-7:00. Sixth grade meetings will be offered at 1:00 and 4:30 in the gym. A golf interest meeting will also be held at 5:30. Please complete all required Powerschool forms prior to attending in order to recieve your student's schedule. Lockers may be purchased for $10.
Good Evening, SMMS families! Effective July 31st, the fee for using a credit or debit card for payments on the MySchoolBucks cafeteria program will increase to $3.75. Also, there will be a parent and student interest meeting for any student who wishes to tryout for golf this year. The meeting will be on Thursday, August 6th at 5:30 in the SMMS gym. Any SMMS student interested in Cross Country - Summer Workouts will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00-9:30am at the WCC ball fields begining on July 6th. Students will need an up to date physical and concussion form to be able to participate.
Wythe County Public Schools is offering paid bus driver training. See the attached flier for additional details.
Summer Workouts for volleyball will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00-10:30 at GWHS in June and July. There will not be any workouts on the weeks of June 21st through July 5th.
For the Scott Memorial Awards tomorrow, May 27th, please enter the GWHS auditorium at the set of double doors to the left of the main entrance. A handicap accessible entrance is available at the GWHS main entrance. We hope to see you there to celebrate the accomplishments of our students!

Summer Workouts for football will be Tuesday and Thursday starting June 2nd through July 23rd from 6:00pm to 7:15pm. There will be no workouts from June 21st through July 5th. Players should bring tennis shoes and cleats. Students who need a ride need to communicate with coaches.
